Farense rejects Pastor's criticism and accuses player of ingratitude

Farense SAD yesterday repudiated the public criticism made on Sunday by Brazilian full-back Pastor, who promised never to represent the club again, which was relegated to the Portuguese Football League II, despite having a contract until 2027.
In a message published on Sunday on his social media, the 25-year-old player criticized “people of bad character who only look out for themselves and their own ambitions”, without specifying the target, and revealed that he no longer wanted to “defend the colors” of the Algarve emblem.
In response, in a statement released today, the Faro team's SAD accused the defender, who has been in the Algarve for three seasons, of ingratitude and explained that “appropriate disciplinary measures” have already been taken to determine responsibilities.
Pastor has represented Farense since 2022/23, in the season of promotion to the I Liga, having played 34 games and provided two assists in the first division last season, in which Farense finished 17th, a position that sealed a new relegation.
On his social media, the Brazilian player said he was “grateful” to Farense for everything he had experienced “so far” and “for having bet” on him, but made it clear that he wants to leave the club that has been relegated to the second tier, despite having a contract for two more seasons.
Pastor, who the sports press considers to be the target of interest for several clubs, criticized people who “are willing to look at their own navel, [to] look at personal desires that have been frustrated”, and who tried to “put him down”.
“I make it clear from now on that I do not want to and will not defend the colors of Farense any longer, not for the people who are passionate, not for these people who live football, but for the people who only want their own benefit,” he stressed.
The Brazilian footballer stated that he had “goals”, “dreams” and “objectives” to achieve, adding: “If for personal reasons and high egos they don’t let me achieve what I’ve always dreamed of, then I have no reason to defend a symbol that I defended with so much pride and determination and with so much commitment as I have defended until today”.
“I want to make it clear that from today onwards I am no longer part of Farense and I hope that this giant can return to the [highest] level. But, as long as there are bad people, it will not return,” he wrote.
In a statement, Farense SAD explained that it had become aware of the player's public statements, “the content of which undermines the truth of the facts, the reputation of this sports society and the integrity of all those who serve it with professionalism and dedication”.
In addition to the “falsehood and seriousness of the statements”, the Faro emblem noted “with perplexity the deeply ungrateful tone of someone who was welcomed and valued at all stages of his career”.
The Algarve SAD “completely” repudiated Pastor’s criticisms and maintained that, “having always rigorously fulfilled all contractual obligations assumed with the aforementioned athlete”, it will demand “with equal firmness the full fulfillment of the labor duties” that bind him to Farense.
“The relevant disciplinary measures have already been taken, as well as all legal means at its disposal to determine responsibilities and restore the conduct required of all professionals who represent it,” it reads.
