The largest and most traditional kickboxing organization in the world, K-1, is back in Brazil. After the success of its return to the country with K-1 Fight Week in August 2024, the Japanese event returns in style. On June 28, the city of São José dos Pinhais, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, will host the K-1 World Max South American Round , which has as its main attraction a GP of eight athletes up to 70kg with all the fights on the same night, and which gives the winner a chance to compete in the final phase of the tournament in Japan at the end of the year.
This will be the second time the event has been held in Paraná, a birthplace of stand-up fighting in Brazil, 22 years after the first edition. The K-1 World Max card also features several thrilling duels, such as the WGP Kickboxing title fight in the women's lightweight category (up to 60kg) between Brazilian and current champion Jennifer Maia , a former UFC title challenger, and Uruguayan Marylin Contin. The fight between Jordan Kranio from Curitiba and Argentine Ignacio El Fino also promises to be exciting.

The event is broadcast by Canal Combate throughout Brazil.
The main attraction of the event in São José dos Pinhais is the GP between eight fighters who will face each other in a knockout format with all the fights on the same night. Petros Cabelinho, Jones Coliseu, Marcio de Jesus and André Martins are the four seeded fighters, as they are ranked first in the WGP Kickboxing category. They will have the right to choose their opponents, starting with the champion Petros Cabelinho. On the other side of the bracket will be Junior Luiz, Heliazir Estefani, Metralleta Torino and Jonas Salsicha , the latter a former WGP champion in the above category. The matchups and full bracket are expected to be defined on June 3, through the Instagram accounts of K-1 Brazil and WGP Kickboxing.

The K-1 World Max South American Round card also has some confirmed duels. On the main card, Brazilian Jennifer Maia defends the WGP women's lightweight title against Uruguayan Marilyn Contin. Jennifer was the interim champion, but the then linear champion, Julie Werner, can no longer compete in WAKO Pro events because she is over 40 years old, so Jennifer will defend the linear belt against the Uruguayan. The WGP organization also reinforces that it has filed a request for a review of this rule with WAKO Pro.
The event also features a fight between Brazil and Argentina that promises to be very exciting. One of the hosts of the night, Jordan Kranio, will face the Argentine and former WGP title challenger Ignacio El Fino. The fight will be in a catchweight category of up to 66kg. Another confirmed duel is between the Brazilian Gabriel de Lima and the Paraguayan Ariel Villalba, in the category of up to 70kg. The fight was also defined as a reserve for the GP that will be the main event of the night.
