Mano Menezes laments Grêmio's setback, but emphasizes: 'We deserved to have drawn'

Despite the 1-0 loss to Palmeiras , Mano Menezes believes Grêmio deserved to leave Allianz Parque with a better result based on their 90 minutes. In this sense, according to the Tricolor manager, the team lacked more effectiveness in finishing the scoring chances they had.
"I think it was an even game in terms of game plan and management. Our start was very poor. But it lasted 10 minutes, 15 minutes at most, and then we managed to get it right, and we improved in the first half. As I saw it, we deserved to have tied the game," he analyzed.
"It was a game with few opportunities , neither team created much. Despite having a good ability to steal the ball, we weren't able to give the last part of the field the extra play, the finishing ability that we needed to tie the game," he added.
Furthermore, the coach believes he can hope for improvement later in the season. He believes the team played a good, evenly matched match against Palmeiras and is poised to improve.
"Although a defeat is always bad, I think we see some perspectives on what we're planning to do for the team. The players gave their all, they gave a lot. There's still a bit to go, but I think that, since returning, it was the best game we've played. The outlook is to keep improving. What we take away from this is something hopeful, I would say, to do better in the future," he concluded.
