Richard cites preference for playing as a defensive midfielder at Internacional

Internacional presented midfielder Richard, its second signing in this mid-year window, in the Beira-Rio press room this Saturday (26). Promptly, the new number 36 of Colorado highlighted that his preference is to play as a first midfielder, as he considers himself to have a more defensive profile.

"I'm a holding midfielder. I've played as a holding midfielder and play wherever Roger wants, but the position I feel most comfortable in is as a holding midfielder. I'm a marker, I try not to miss a pass, and I also like to get forward," the athlete explained.

Despite speaking for the first time as an Inter player on the eve of the duel with Vasco, he will not be fit to enter the field this Sunday (27). This is because he was in a period of rest after the end of the Turkish Championship. In other words, he needs time to recondition himself physically after leaving Alanyaspor.

"I wasn't completely out of action because I was training on my own with a trainer. But it's different from training at the club. I've been training here at the club for a week now, doing the physical and gym work, which will help me. Now it's more about starting to play matches and getting into rhythm. I don't think I'll be back (for the game) tomorrow (Sunday, 27th) yet, but it won't be long," explained the midfielder.

Richard also gave an account of his contact with coach Roger Machado, as well as discussing topics such as work methodology.

"He gave me feedback on how he works, we talked about field positioning. It was a very good conversation, which gave me confidence. Now it's time to convey all of that on the field," concluded the player.

The midfielder also indicated that he will also reunite with old Internacional teammates like Bruno Gomes, Vitinho, and Wesley. He also admitted that he had a prior conversation with friends and received positive recommendations about the squad.
