Women's Portuguese Cup to be decided in Albergaria-a-Velha

Women's cycling will be in the spotlight tomorrow in Albergaria-a-Velha, where the national peloton will compete in the decisive stage of the Portuguese Cup, starting at 12:30 pm, on a course of 87.6 kilometres. The 5th stage of the women's competition will cross five parishes in the municipality, between the plains of Baixo Vouga and the mountains of the interior. The challenging route promises to test the athletes' endurance and provide an exciting spectacle for fans of the sport. The start will take place on Rua 25 de Abril, next to the headquarters of the Albergaria Club. During the race, the cyclists will cross the finish line three times. The first lap, approximately 50.4 km long, will include passages through the parishes of Alquerubim, São João de Loure and Frossos, Angeja and Branca. The final two laps will each be approximately 18.1 km long, concentrating on the parish of Alquerubim and finishing in the city, where the finish line is located. The race will feature athletes in the categories of Cadets, Juniors, Under/23, Elites and Masters, reaffirming its status as one of the most eagerly awaited classic races on the national calendar. The event promises to be very exciting, with close finishes and a large crowd along the route.
Going into the last stage counting towards the Portuguese Cup, Raquel Queirós (Atum General/Tavira/SC Farense) is leading the elite with 150 points, but Alina Abramenka (Matos Mobility-Flexaco-IHS), second with 112, could still have a say. Before this event, starting at 10 am, the 3rd stage of the Portuguese Paracycling Cup will also take place, with a circular route in the city centre, reinforcing the event's commitment to inclusion and the promotion of sport for all.
