Russia has developed a net-throwing system to protect not only military but also civilian vehicles from drones. It's a specialized system equipped with a net-throwing device and a machine-vision video system. Its production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, TASS reports, citing developer Orda-Pilot.
The developers explained that the video system monitors a specific sector and identifies aerial targets. If a drone is detected approaching the vehicle, a net-throwing device is activated—it turns toward the potential aggressor and fires a net.
"The system is safe to use and can be installed on any military or civilian equipment," the organization added.
The company also explained that the maximum firing range of the reticle will be 45 meters, with a targeting range of 30 meters. Work on the device's mechanics is ongoing.
Previously, specialists from the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star School named after P.S. Nakhimov developed a ship-based reconnaissance drone. It can land on water and maneuver independently.
