Greetings from Smolensk: we continue the historical quest dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve

The online newspaper "Novgorod" continues the interactive project dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the Novgorod State Regional Museum-Reserve. This time we will turn to one of the main symbols of Russian statehood.
Many people know the name of the Russian sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin, who would have turned 190 this year. He made his name famous at the age of 25, when he won a competition for the best design of the monument "Millennium of Russia" . The monument, designed by him, was erected in the center of the Novgorod Kremlin in 1862. But there is another monument "Millennium of Russia", or rather, its reduced copy, it barely fits on a stand - such a monument was created in memory of Mikhail Mikeshin in his homeland, in Smolensk.
After the opening of the monument in Novgorod, Mikhail Mikeshin prepared a sketch of his famous monument.
Question: For what purpose did Mikeshin make a sketch of the monument “Millennium of Russia” and is it possible to see it somewhere?
