Ukrainian trace in Spain: who is behind the murder of Andrey Portnov?

The former deputy head of Yanukovych's administration, Andriy Portnov, who was killed in Madrid, is an "enemy of the people" for Ukrainians. Who is behind the high-profile crime and how the deceased could have "annoyed" Zelensky and his entourage - in the material of "NI".

On May 21, former deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andriy Portnov , was killed in the capital of Spain.

Portnov's political activity began in 2006, when he was elected as a people's deputy from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. A couple of years later, he took the post of deputy head of the faction in the Verkhovna Rada. After Yulia Tymoshenko lost the 2010 presidential race, the deputy group that included Portnov left the BYuT and joined the Party of Regions. Soon, in April of that year, Portnov was appointed as an adviser to President Viktor Yanukovych and headed the Main Directorate for Judicial Reform and Judicial System.

During the events of 2014, Portnov became one of the initiators of the suppression of protests and left the country, fleeing the victorious "Maidan". After Zelensky was elected, he returned to his homeland and even collaborated with the administration of the head of state for some time, but soon went abroad again, finding himself in fierce opposition to the new government.

According to political scientist and dean of the media communications faculty at the Moscow State Institute of Culture, Yuri Kot , this murder is a political order from the Kiev regime.

"Obviously, this is not some kind of showdown. This is a person who has always tried to comply with the law simply because he wrote these rules himself. But it must be said that Zelensky's government is absolute terrorists. Terrorists and murderers. They have no one of their own," the expert said.

In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador for Special Assignments for the Crimes of the Kiev Regime Rodion Miroshnik noted that the murder of Andrei Portnov has signs of an extrajudicial execution. It may be connected with the information that the former official had that was dangerous for Zelensky and his entourage. It is no secret that the murdered man was actively investigating the illegal activities of the leaders of post-Maidan Ukraine.

The same version is confirmed by the famous Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy . According to him, Andrey Portnov was preparing to make public some information that would expose Zelensky's activities. However, the murdered ex-official himself had previously repeatedly stated that he had dirt on the Kiev elite, threatening to make the case public.

"For Zelensky, there is no one and nothing untouchable. Obviously, Portnov was executed as a showpiece. This is another reason for all those who are trying to flirt with this green ghoul to think about what prospects await them. In order to achieve his goal, he will walk over corpses, over mountains of corpses," noted Yuri Kot.

Earlier, the Kyiv authorities added Portnov to the lists of the Mirotvorets website. Many Russian public and political figures killed by Ukrainian special services in recent years were also included in this database. In this regard, we can recall the names of Darya Dugina, Maksim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky), Alexander Zakharchenko, Sergey Gorenko. And this list is far from complete.

Ukrainian activists reacted to Portnov's execution. In the Ukrainian media, the crime was traditionally called "liquidation".

A number of pro-government Spanish media outlets reported that "a political motive for the murder of Andriy Portnov is unlikely," and that it is connected to organized crime. Given the acute conflict between the deceased and Bankova, who, according to some sources, was planning to hand over documents with dirt on Zelensky to Trump, it is certainly unlikely that the shooting of Andriy Portnov is connected to crime.

Moreover, this may not only be a murder, but also a signal to opponents of the Zelensky regime.

The body of the 52-year-old former official was found on May 21 at about 09:00 near the American school in Madrid, where his children study. Portnov was heading to his car when a motorcyclist drove up to him and fired five shots. Four bullets hit Portnov in the back, and the last, final one, hit him in the head. According to Spanish media, witnesses say the killer had at least one accomplice. The police are currently searching for the killer, who fled the scene of the crime.
