Veliky Novgorod May Have Coffee Cups That Glorify Local Landmarks

Novgorod students have proposed taking cultural tourism to a new level: a team of Novgorod State University students has developed a project for branded paper cups. Their design, “Cultural Heritage of Veliky Novgorod,” won second place in the PRO.Business student project competition.
According to the team's speaker, Yaroslav Mudry Novgorod State University student Yulia Volkova, the cups are proposed to be distributed in coffee shops, cafes and restaurants in the city, and this could increase their average bill and monthly income.
"Veliky Novgorod is one of the top 15 cities for cultural tourism and is attractive to tourists from different cities. The cups will be made of paper, which is a recyclable material, which is good from an environmental point of view," the student noted.
For now, the project involves three variations of attractions: the sculpture "Tired Tourist" near the Kremlin pedestrian bridge, the monument "Millennium of Russia" and the Valdai Scientific and Technical Center. In addition to images of recognizable objects, QR codes with additional information about the monument and the city itself will be placed on the cups.
"Consumers are much more willing to interact with educational content in a game format," says Yulia VOLKOVA. " We plan to add mini-games or quests along the routes of city locations, accessible via QR codes on cups that lead to our website. We also plan to add general information about the city, which will indicate the location of Novgorod State University buildings, the location of nearby attractions, and the availability of current events."
Let us add that the first place in the PRO.Business competition was taken by the project "Friendly Food - delivery of healthy nutrition". The third place went to the project "Board game for the course "History of the Middle Ages". The organizer of the competition was the School of Project-Based Learning of Novgorod State University.
