Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, the world's fifth-ranked player, will be unable to compete in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Final Tournament due to an injury, according to the organization's official website.
The competition will take place in Turin, Italy, from November 9 to 16. The prize fund is $15.5 million. Djokovic's position will be filled by the first alternate, Italian Lorenzo Musetti, ranked ninth in the world, who lost to the Serb in the ATP 250 tournament decider in Athens on Saturday.
Also taking part in the final tournament will be Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, Italian Jannik Sinner, German Alexander Zverev, Americans Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, Australian Alex de Minaur and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Djokovic, 38, won his 101st ATP title at the Athens tournament. The Serbian has won 24 Grand Slam titles, a record. He is also reportedly the 2024 Olympic champion in Paris. Having qualified for the Final Tournament for the 18th time in his career, Djokovic equaled Switzerland's Roger Federer's achievement. He is also a record-breaking seven-time winner of this competition.
