Trump says he is ready to play in the World Cup in the USA

US President Donald Trump has jokingly announced his readiness to take to the football field during the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking to reporters at the White House with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the American leader joked: "I can play. I see the money football players make. I can try - I'm a good athlete and my son is very good at football."

Trump also noted his son's height - 6ft 9in (about 205cm) - and promised: "I can put on shorts, and I look really good in them, and join the game. It will be a lot of fun."

During the event, it was announced that the draw for the 2026 World Cup group stage will take place on December 5 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

In response, Infantino gave Trump a ticket to the final match of the championship, which will take place on July 19, 2026. The FIFA President especially emphasized that the ticket has numbers 45-47, which symbolizes Trump's ordinal numbers as the President of the United States.
