The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sent an official letter to representatives of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, demanding the recovery of funds in accordance with the ruling of the Swiss Federal Court, RIA Novosti reports.
The athlete must compensate WADA 8,000 Swiss francs (over 800,000 rubles) for legal costs. This was based on the court's rejection of a petition to review the decision upholding the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling.
Earlier, the International Skating Union (ISU) officially stripped Valieva of her 2022 European Championship gold medal. The Swiss Federal Court rejected an appeal against the athlete's disqualification.
In January 2024, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended the skater for four years after her December 2021 sample tested positive for the banned substance Trimetazidine. She was subsequently stripped of her gold medals from the European Championships, the Russian Championships, and the 2022 Olympic Team Event (along with the entire Russian national team).
