National swimmer İrem Sönmez dedicated the swimming marathon she organised for August 30 Victory Day to the "Unseen Power of Women".
Sönmez will begin the course by entering the sea from Fenerbahçe Dalyan at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, and will swim non-stop for 30 hours before coming ashore at 17:00 on Saturday, August 30.
The main theme of the event was "The Unseen Power of Women." In a statement before the marathon, Sönmez stated that she wanted to symbolize the power of women, often unseen but present in every aspect of life. "This swim is not just a sporting challenge," Sönmez said. "It will be a symbol of women's patience, faith, and resilience."
Sönmez is expected to swim day and night throughout the marathon, battling varying sea conditions and fatigue. The organizing team will monitor the swimmer for 30 hours, taking all necessary safety and health precautions.
This swimming marathon, organized specifically for Victory Day, is a first in sports history and powerfully reflects the theme of "The Unseen Power of Women."
Sönmez is waiting for everyone at Fenerbahçe Dalyan beach on Saturday, August 30th, when he will complete the long marathon and disembark.
