Çağdaş Atan: The game was over for us after the red card

Having lost 3-1 away to Romanian side Universitatea Craiova in the rematch of the UEFA Conference League play-off round match, which they lost 2-1, and thus bid farewell to Europe, Istanbul Başakşehir manager Çağdaş Atan stated that they left the game after receiving a red card.
After the match, Çağdaş Atan made a statement to the press members at the Ion Oblemenco Stadium.
Atan, expressing his disappointment at the loss, said, "We had a dream start. We started brilliantly with the goal we scored from a set piece. As we emphasized before the match, we quickly fell behind in one-on-one situations. In such heated environments, these problems are punished with goals. Indeed, the two goals were the same. We dominated the match in the second half with our attacks until the red card. After that, the game was over for us. Nuno Da Costa was injured after coming on. We had to play with nine men. I congratulate Universitatea Craiova. I wish them success in the UEFA Conference League. To be here again, we need to return to the league."
Atan emphasized that they had started the game brilliantly, saying, "My players were energetic before the match and during training. The mistakes we made in defense afterwards made it impossible for us to advance."
The 45-year-old manager expressed his admiration for the crowd at the match, saying, "There was a great crowd. They created a great atmosphere. We could have turned the match around in the second half, but unfortunately, we couldn't score."
