Sadettin Saran's Fenerbahçe manager candidate is Sergio Conceiçao

Businessman Sadettin Saran, who will be running for president at Fenerbahçe's congress to be held in September, announced that Portuguese Sergio Conceiçao is their candidate for the new coach.

The Yellow Canaries were eliminated from the Champions League by Benfica during the week and parted ways with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho this morning.

Saran, who announced his candidacy for Fenerbahçe president on June 30, announced from his contact account on X that his candidate for coach is Conceiçao.

The 50-year-old Ceonceiçao coached Porto from the 2017-2018 season to the 2023-2024 season and Italian team Milan in the 2024-2025 season.

Saran's statement is as follows:

"We are all aware of the news that our manager, Jose Mourinho, has been dismissed by our club management as of today. Considering that we are exactly 23 days away from our extraordinary congress, the decision on a new manager is undoubtedly crucial.

At this point, we must now state that our candidate for manager is Sergio Conceiçao. We urge our management to take immediate action.

Sergio Conceiçao is ready to join our club under better conditions than our former manager Mourinho. Given Conceiçao's ambitious and exciting character, which aligns with our club's genetics, we have full confidence that he will lead us to the success we long for. We hope our management will act with this perspective and express our pleasure in intervening if there is a role for us to play. Fenerbahçe is paramount.

Fenerbahçe's extraordinary general assembly, with elections, will be held on September 13-14. If a quorum is not reached at the first meeting, the congress will be held on September 20-21.
