Perhaps she skipped flat stones across the water as a child. The critic and literary scholar Sibylle Cramer grew up on Lake Constance. She was born in Lower Silesia at the end of January 1941. This change of location involved a violent escape, and her coming of age involved confronting National Socialism within her own family.
