Classical concerts in Gironde: five musical events from November 3rd to 9th

Cenon. The amateur orchestra from the Gironde region welcomes the Blutenburg Chamber Philharmonic from Munich. Under the direction of Henri Bonamy, the Germans will perform Beethoven's "Leonore III" overture and the adagio from Mahler's unfinished 10th Symphony. Jonathan Raspiengeas will then conduct Molto Assaï in Franck's Symphony, before the two orchestras join forces for the famous "Danzón No. 2" by the Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, born in 1950.

Bordeaux/Cenon. The soprano, who lives in the Gironde region and portrayed a very elegant foreign princess in Dvořák's "Rusalka" in November 2023 at the Grand-Théâtre, will showcase the full range of her talent. Accompanied by her longtime collaborator Françoise Larrat on piano, she will sing melancholic melodies by Tchaikovsky and Wagner on the theme of nature, followed by great operatic arias by Verdi and Puccini.

Bordeaux. For twenty-five years, the Jeune Académie vocale d'Aquitaine, still directed by Marie Chavanel, has allowed young people aged 6 to 22 to practice choral singing at a high level and participate in productions at the Bordeaux Opera. It will celebrate this anniversary with a classical work accompanied by an instrumental ensemble: Michael Haydn's Requiem in C minor, from 1771, which inspired his friend Mozart twenty years later. The academy will then showcase the breadth of its repertoire with songs in English, Norwegian, Swahili, and other languages.

"The Singer of Mexico" at the Pin Galant

Mérignac. Francis Lopez's famous, spectacular operetta, created in 1951 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, opens the Pin Galant operetta season. Claude Cuguillère will conduct the Mélodia orchestra and the Mélopée choir of Toulouse, Christian Blain is directing, and the ballets will be danced by the Carole Massoutié Academy. Tenor Jérémy Duffau will succeed Luis Mariano at the climactic climax of the famous "Mexico, Mexico, Mexiiiiiiiico."

Bordeaux. To close the 2025 season of the Renaissance de l'Orgue association, Paul Goussot, organist at Sainte-Croix Church, professor at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory, and international soloist, will perform Dom Bedos's masterpiece (1748) in Purcell's "Voluntary," two Handel concertos, and improvisations in which he excels. He will also accompany the Orfeo choir, conducted by Françoise Richard, in "Zadok the Priest" and excerpts from Handel's "Alexander's Feast."
