Rochefort: a two-week film festival dedicated to Spanish women directors at the Apollo Ciné 8

During the first week, from November 5th to 11th, audiences can (re)discover Icíar Bollaín's 2021 film "The Repentant," based on the true story of Maixabel Lasa, widow of Juan María Jáuregui, who was assassinated in 2000 by ETA; the excellent "Carmen and Lola" (2018) by Arantxa Echevarría, the first Spanish female director to participate in the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes; and Carla Simón's "Our Suns," winner of the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival. The latter will be the focus of a special event on Thursday, November 7th, starting at 7:45 pm (screening at 8:15 pm).
Special guest Marie-Soledad Rodriguez, professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle and specialist in Spanish women's cinema, will introduce the screening with a lecture on the links between cinema, politics, and gender representation. A Q&A session with the audience will follow.
