A huge fire near Warsaw. Loud explosions were heard, toxic fumes in the air

The fire broke out on Saturday (24 May) in the evening in one of the warehouses in the town of Kawęczyn . As reported by the State Fire Service, the services received a report of a fire in the warehouse in Kawęczyn at 9:38 p.m. However, the fire quickly spread to the second hall.

The fire spread to a hall of an unspecified size, and the first fire brigades that arrived at the scene were unable to contain the flames. Due to the escalation of the threat, the command decided to send additional units from the entire Piaseczno district and neighboring municipalities - writes Miejski Reporter.

Plastics were stored inside the warehouses. The firefighting operation was initially carried out by about 100 firefighters. At the peak, 160 firefighters and 42 units from all over the district fought the fire . During the operation , numerous explosions were heard, the source of which remains unknown. The firefighters were forced to leave the burning hall due to the deteriorating conditions and the real threat to their lives - writes "Przegląd Piaseczyński".

Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading further , but it is estimated that up to 18 square meters of storage space could have burned down. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
