A special farewell to the Polish national team. It will be a tearjerker.

At the beginning of the 21st century, first the women's national team under the direction of the late Andrzej Niemczyk, and then the men's team under coach Raul Lozano, restored the glory of Polish volleyball. Many years have passed, and the volleyball results continue to delight fans, bringing immense joy to both men and women of Poland.
Sebastian Świderski has spoken out on an important matter. This is what fans are counting on!It must be admitted, however, that the juxtaposition of volleyball successes with the subsequent… retirement of the national team careers of both men and women volleyball players was quite different. Katowice hosts the annual Volleyball Walk of Fame, where the most distinguished and distinguished leave their handprints on Korfantego Avenue, leading to the Spodek Arena.
However, there are several figures who deserve an official farewell to their fans, under the supervision of the Polish Volleyball Federation. It appears that the federation has finally found the optimal solution to determine who should be bid farewell and when. Sebastian Świderski, president of the Polish Volleyball Federation, spoke on the Siatkarskie Liga channel on YouTube. It's worth noting that Świderski was also a key figure in the Polish national team in the past, including a runner-up in the 2006 World Championship.
"We haven't abandoned that. In fact, last year we systematized the retirement of national team players. It often happened that someone would end their national team career, continue playing for their club, then the national team coach would change, they would come back, and then what? So the Polish Volleyball Federation board decided to say goodbye to those who are ending their volleyball career. Of course, there are cases, greetings, "Ziomek," it's a great return to the court at that age, I'm jealous (laughter), but seriously, we decided as I mentioned. We will soon say goodbye to our national team players, distinguished figures, the right numbers you need, or successes to be officially dismissed. This will be revised annually, because we will also be looking at who comes forward with the information that they are retiring from their volleyball career, not just their national team," admitted the president of the Polish federation.
So, are we in for official farewells for figures like Michał Winiarski, Mariusz Wlazły, Paweł Zagumny, Dorota Świeniewicz-Brandt, Małgorzata Glinka-Mogentale, and, in the future, Michał Kubiak, Paweł Zatorski, and Bartosz Kurek? Although some had farewell matches planned, it seems that the opportunity to perform in front of the national team fans would certainly be something special for each of these figures – and many, many more.
The team, which finished runner-up at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, faces another significant challenge – the World Championships in the Philippines (September 12-28). However, before the Poles begin their quest to regain their title as the best team in the world (previously gold in 2014 and 2018, and silver in 2022 for Poland), the national team, led by coach Nikola Grbić , has some exciting friendly matches ahead.
Looking at the national team's schedule, the Hubert Wagner Memorial in Krakow (August 29-31) and a friendly match against Brazil (September 4) at the Atlas Arena in Łódź are on the horizon. At Krakow's Tauron Arena, during the memorial, the Poles will face Serbia (Friday, August 29), Brazil (Saturday, August 30), and Argentina (Sunday, August 31).
Poland's first World Cup match will be on September 13th against Romania. Poland's group stage matches include matches against Qatar (September 15th) and the Netherlands (September 17th).
