US Open: Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud take the title? They're already in the semifinals!Iga Świątek, though it seemed she wouldn't be competing after her success at the WTA 1000 Cincinnati tournament, ultimately played in the mixed doubles event. Norwegian Casper Ruud is the Pole's court partner, and on Tuesday, the pair already won two matches. First, the American pairing of Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe (4-1, 4-2).
And then American Cathy McNally and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, with exactly the same result as in their first appearance on the Flushing Meadows courts.
"I could play in the semifinals and final right now. I feel very good. The title in Cincinnati gave me a lot of confidence, so I want to use it," the Pole admitted with a smile after winning two matches in New York.
Who will the Polish-Norwegian duo play in the semifinals? Their opponents will be American Jessica Pegula and British player Jack Draper. The competition begins Wednesday night at 1:00 a.m. Polish time.
The final, at the world's largest tennis venue – Arthur Ashe Stadium – will take place immediately after the second mixed doubles semifinal. Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison (both from the USA) will face the Italian duo of Sara Ernani and Andrea Vavassori.
All matches on the courts in New York can be watched on Eurosport and via the HBO Max platform.
