INSS begins to return undue discounts this Monday

Starting this Monday (26), INSS retirees and pensioners will begin to receive the return of undue discounts on their April payroll, which appeared on statements as “membership fees”.
The amounts for April total R$292 million. Reimbursement for that month will be made directly together with the payment of benefits, without the beneficiary needing to take any action.
The president of the INSS, Gilberto Waller Júnior, also issued a warning: “If someone knocks on your door now, it’s a scam.” No one from the INSS is authorized to seek out beneficiaries. The recommendation is to make inquiries and requests through official channels, such as the Meu INSS app or website and Central 135.
The INSS also emphasizes that it does not send messages via email, SMS or WhatsApp, nor does it make phone calls requesting data or offering services. Any attempt to contact you outside of official channels should be seen as a scam attempt.
INSS undue discount refund scheduleThe refund of undue INSS discounts for April will be made according to the official payment table , between May 26 and June 6, considering the value of the benefit (equal to or greater than a minimum wage) and the last number of the benefit (NB) , without the verification digit.

In-person service at the Post OfficeIn addition to the refund for the month of April, anyone who has not yet located undue discounts from other months or was unable to request a refund through the Meu INSS app or by calling 135, will be able to make the inquiry in person at 4,730 Correios branches, starting on May 30.
The focus is to assist policyholders who have difficulties with digital channels to request refunds. The Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz, announced the partnership between INSS and Correios last Thursday (22).
“This face-to-face service will be provided to the most vulnerable, who have difficulty accessing technology,” he said.

The president of the INSS explained that it is enough to bring a photo ID to be seen. In cases where the beneficiary cannot attend, a legal representative may go in his/her place with a power of attorney notarized by a notary.
The idea is to support the insured in checking whether there was an undue discount, and to be able to consult. In addition, the service seeks to offer the population the opportunity to follow the result of the dispute and obtain a printout of the guidance protocol.
How to check undue INSS discountsTo request the return of undue discounts, the beneficiary must inform the INSS, through Meu INSS or Central 135 , that he/she did not authorize the discount of membership fees. It is not necessary to send documents proving the discount.
After the procedure, the INSS requests proof of authorization from the associative entity. If there is no proof, the amounts must be returned to the Social Security for transfer to the beneficiary.
More than 2 million beneficiaries have already accessed INSS channels and stated that they did not authorize the discounts and requested a refund.
