Portugal loses to Brazil and fails to reach the final of the Beach Soccer World Cup
The national team failed to overcome its Brazilian counterpart in the semi-finals of the championship

Portugal failed to qualify for the final of the Beach Soccer World Cup today, losing to Brazil 4-2 in the semi-final match played in Victoria, in the Seychelles Islands. The Portuguese team opened the scoring after eight minutes through Bernardo Lopes, with Brazil turning the result around with goals from Thanger (13') and Filipe (16'). In the 19th minute, André Lourenço made it 2-2, but goals from Rodrigo (28') and Catarino (32') pushed the Portuguese team, current European champions and three-time World Cup winners (2001, 2015 and 2019, the last two under FIFA's auspices), into the third and fourth place play-off against Senegal on Sunday.

Brazil, six-time champions since the competition began to be organised by FIFA, will face Belarus in the final, having beaten Senegal 5-2 today in the other semi-final of the competition.
