Novgorodians have become more regular in paying property taxes, ending their status as debtors

In the Novgorod region, the total debt on tax payments has decreased by 1.9 billion rubles by the beginning of the current year. This was reported by the regional office of the Federal Tax Service.

According to data for 7 months of 2025, the total debt in the region has decreased by 28.5% compared to the beginning of the year. Debt to regional and local budgets for property taxes of individuals has been reduced by 35% or by 141,000,000 rubles. Debt according to the results of control work for 7 months of this year has decreased by 2,300,000,000 rubles or 79.6%.

The department explains that debt reduction can be achieved, among other things, by using a range of measures for forced collection provided for by tax legislation.

" Debtors who are legal entities are sent demands, collection orders are issued, and account transactions are suspended. In relation to individuals, applications are sent to the court for the issuance of judicial decisions ," the department's press service comments.

In terms of forced debt collection, tax service employees work in cooperation with bailiffs.

It should be noted that on November 1 of this year, an extrajudicial procedure for collecting tax debts from individuals who do not have the status of an individual entrepreneur will be introduced. This is due to the amendments to Federal Law No. 287-FZ adopted on July 31.
