Mobile Health Unit visits the parishes of the municipality

The Municipality of Almeida is currently running the itinerant project 'Close to You, More Health', which aims to bring healthcare closer to the population of the entire municipality of Almeida, improving accessibility and the quality of care provided. The project 'Close to You, More Health' aims to raise awareness among the population about various areas of health, namely health literacy, social, psychological and emotional health, always based on advice and necessary referrals. The project includes a Mobile Health Unit, which is made up of a nursing team and has essential equipment for prevention and health monitoring of its residents.

This vehicle is traveling throughout the municipality of Almeida, passing through all parishes, every two weeks, thus providing local health care, carried out by nurses, such as: diabetes control, hypertension, among others.

The Mobile Health Unit is therefore particularly focused on prevention, health surveillance and the provision of primary health care to the population, particularly assisting those with greater transport and mobility difficulties.

The project, which is currently in operation, has seen a high level of participation since its inception. In the first quarter, it served 1,757 residents – in the Mobile Health Unit – and carried out 16 home visits.
