Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: the performance of the S25 in an ultra-thin device

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 edge, a new model in the Galaxy S series that features an ultra-thin form factor of just 5.8 mm thin, without compromising on performance or top-notch features. Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor and heavily supported by the Galaxy AI platform, the new smartphone combines a sleek design with advanced photography and productivity capabilities.
According to Bernardo Cunha, Head of Strategy and Product Marketing Mobile Experience at Samsung Portugal, the S25 Edge is “a feat of engineering excellence” that reinforces the brand’s commitment to “pushing our own boundaries and continuing to offer people truly unique premium experiences”. He also highlights that this device “drives innovation across the mobile industry”.

Weighing just 163 grams and measuring 5.8 mm, the Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the thinnest smartphones ever launched by the brand. Samsung claims that this achievement required a major overhaul of several elements of the internal and external design, resulting in a more compact and ergonomic device. The titanium structure – a stronger and lighter material – gives it solidity and durability without compromising comfort in use.
The screen is protected by the new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a ceramic glass that combines greater impact resistance with a more intense brightness, also promising better readability in outdoor environments. The curved edges of the device maintain the visual identity of the Galaxy S line, while reinforcing the feeling of fluidity and continuity in handling.
In the photography field, Samsung keeps the bar high. The main sensor of the S25 Edge is a 200 MP wide-angle camera, designed to capture sharper and brighter images even in low-light conditions. The brand promises an increase of more than 40% in brightness in night environments, thanks to the new generation of larger pixels and AI-powered image processing.
The camera module also includes a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus, capable of capturing macro images with a high level of detail. The ProVisual Engine technology, already present in the Galaxy S25, is also available in this model, ensuring better definition in different types of scenarios.
Among the features powered by Galaxy AI are the Audio Eraser and the Drawing Assistant, creative tools that facilitate the editing and customization of content directly on the smartphone.
Top-notch power with built-in AIPerformance is assured by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy — officially called Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy — a processor developed in partnership with Qualcomm and customized for Samsung devices. Compared to previous generations, this chipset offers better graphics performance, greater energy efficiency and more advanced AI processing.
To ensure stable operation even under heavy load, the S25 Edge features a redesigned vapor chamber that is now thinner and has a larger heat dissipation area. The imaging system also features the ProScaler engine, which improves scaling quality by 40%, and the mDNIe (mobile Digital Natural Image engine), designed for sharper, more natural image reproduction.
Galaxy AI is deeply integrated into the S25 edge ecosystem. Features like Now Brief and Now Bar are compatible with third-party apps, enabling more tailored, multimodal experiences. Privacy remains a top priority, with Samsung Knox Vault ensuring sensitive data remains protected and, where possible, processed locally on the device.
Thanks to the partnership between Samsung and Google, the Galaxy S25 Edge also benefits from the advances of the Gemini platform. Among the new features, Gemini Live stands out, which allows screen and camera sharing during calls in real time, a feature designed for more fluid collaboration in a professional or personal context.
Price and availabilityThe Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in three colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Icyblue. Prices start at €1,299 for the version with 256 GB of internal storage, rising to €1,419 for the version with 512 GB.
