Septuagenarian seriously injured in accident

A 71-year-old man was seriously injured following a skid early this morning on the Lomba road, in the municipality of Vinhais.
The van “skidded off the road and fell down a ravine, in an area with a very steep slope, from a height of around 150 metres”, explained the commander of the Vinhais Volunteer Firefighters, Carlos Ferreira.
The accident occurred on National Road 103-6, at km 8, in the parish of Tuizelo.
The alert was given at around 6:10 am and the 12 firefighters called to the scene had to carry out the rescue at height, an operation for which the corporation has equipment and training. Upon arrival at the scene, the victim was outside the crashed vehicle, the same source also reported. After being stabilized, the septuagenarian was taken to Bragança Hospital.
Four more operatives from VMER de Bragança and GNR were on site, supported by a total of six vehicles from the three entities.
At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most of VTM's news is (still) free, but it is not free of charge. Journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our contribution is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It is continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
